After the attack on Abu Dhabi... Israeli fears that the Houthis will target the port of Eilat

After the Houthi attack that targeted and hit a fuel depot at the UAE's ADNOC Oil Company in Abu Dhabi last week, Israeli voices appeared warning against targeting the Iranian-backed movement of targets such as the port of Eilat.

The attack, which occurred last week, killed three people, in what was considered a qualitative leap in the conflict between the Houthis and the UAE, which is participating in the Saudi-led coalition against the movement in Yemen.

The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, indicated that it was not the first attack by the Houthis deep in the UAE, but was preceded by another attack two years ago that did not result in casualties, but prompted Abu Dhabi to reduce its military role in Yemen, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper says that the American silence towards these attacks may push the Houthis to implement their previous threats to target Israeli targets, especially in light of the Emirati-Israeli normalization since the two countries signed the Abrahamic Agreements in 2020.

According to Haaretz, Iranian support for the Houthis increases the movement's ability to launch missiles and drones simultaneously and with great accuracy.

Also, the Yemeni areas under the control of the Houthis are close to the Bab al-Mandab strait, which facilitates the threat to the Israeli shipping movement between the port of Elato, the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea.

The newspaper stresses that the joint caution between Israel and the UAE against Iran may deepen military cooperation between the two countries.
