The number of migrants arriving in Britain via the English Channel in 2021 will almost double by 5 times compared to 2020

 Many illegal immigrants continue to try to reach the UK by various means.  Some of them are trying to sneak onto trucks leaving France for the UK.  This practice is very dangerous as a teenager died recently after falling under the wheels of a Truck drivers can be fined up to £2,000 if people are found trying to enter Britain illegally, even without their knowledge.  French police confirm that the number of people trying to board trucks passing through Calais is increasing.

 According to new figures, at least 28,395 illegal immigrants crossed last year from France to England on small boats that took them across the English Channel on a perilous journey, in a record number nearly five times that recorded in 2020. In 2020, the number of illegal immigrants reached  About 8,400 people crossed the canal.  Apparently, attempts to cross by trucks are witnessing a noticeable increase.

The total number of attempts to cross the English Channel last year reached 52,000, and 36 migrants died while trying to reach Britain.

The issue of migrants from France to the United Kingdom via the Channel has strained relations between France and the United Kingdom, with London accusing Paris of exploiting the dispute to pressure the United Kingdom on other issues such as fishing or Britain's exit from the European Union.  London considers that the immigration issue will not be resolved before the French presidential elections scheduled for next spring
